What is considered decor?

These accessories include such items as curtains, sofa sets, cushions, tablecloths and decorative craft products, decorative wrought iron, and so on. These items are commonly used in indoor furnishings and layout and can include cloth items, paintings, and plants.

What are your favorite pieces for you home? Flowers are my go to, but that's a whole nother post. What is your favorite store to grab your goodies? My personal favorite is West Elm.

Do you remember the decor in your childhood bedroom? We all had a different ideas for our little spaces. My room was very different. Every other wall in it was green and purple with a ying-yang over the closet door with hippy beads hanging in the opening. Hanson posters and a boom box to sing on. Yike! I am very thankful my taste has changed! A few years later, I believe in high school, my mom gave me her room. For some reason I always liked the idea of a living room feeling in my bedroom. I had a couch with a pull out bed so I could put it away during the day so I had more room. Mom, if you are reading this, I did not get my obsession with organizing or wanting to clean all the time from you. We know this lol. My grandparents lived on the other side of the block we grew up on and I would go down there to visit a lot. Every time other time I went down I wanted to clean. This was when I was as young as 9 or 10. There where photos on all the end tables, A plant on the coffee table, there was a dark wood piano and lamps with gold bases. I hated seeing the dust. My grandmother kept Lemon scented Pledge under the kitchen sink. This was entertaining to me. Don't ask me why, but I enjoyed taking care of homes even then. I liked going up to the attic and finding pieces that I ended up sneaking home. I have a tall yellow vase I found in the basement on a end table I have in my living room. I have decorated 6 homes, moving furniture around in my childhood home, helping my grandmother with her house and organizing/cleaning anything from my closet to my car. Taking care of the pieces I own matter to me. It's a sense of pride.

Over the past few years I have had several friends asking for my impute, asking me to come to their home and help them organize or give them ideas about decorating. My friend, lets call her Molly, she has a daughter and has been decorating her first home. She came to visit a while back and was asking me questions about where to hang a photo or what side of the room her couch should go on. She is in the process of building her first home and I cannot wait to help her put her home together! I have a man friend, who everytime he wants to do something to his home, weather its organize a pantry or turn his rug the other way and move the couch on the other side of the room. He asks me " you're really good at that stuff, will you come over and just tell me what to do ", even though he already loves this stuff and knows what to do to his home. Helping people I care about, work on their spaces, makes me feel like they really believe I can help them make their home feel the best it can.

Do you have favorite pieces that you always go to? Do you have a piece from your families history that you can't part with? Are the books that you never read, piled up in your coffee table and buy this point they are decorations, " coffee table books"? Do the flowers you pick for the vase in the kitchen represent how you feel that day? Does the mirror over your fireplace have a crack from where you picked it up at a yard sale and you hit it on the car door getting it home. Do you buy new christmas decorations every year or do you recycle them? Is the vase on the dining room table passes down from your grandmother? Do you splurge when you go into your favorite store on throw pillows? Promise me this... don't go buy a bunch of crap you don't need. Buy things that make you feel like you just bought a piece of you. But something that you can pass down to your kids or if a friend compliments on a piece you can tell them where to get it. Make your decor pieces have a story... Make them TALK! I wish the pieces I have in my home, they'd have a lot to say.

Whatever you love. Whatever you decorate with, represents who you are. Always, always trust your gut when it comes to what you put in your home. Its all. about. feeling. like. you.

- Here's to you, you creative soul.

You just Feng Shuied
