Get me out of town!

S.T.A.G.I.N.G

“The activity or practice of styling and furnishing a property for sale in such a way as to enhance its attractiveness to potential buyers. “

But…. I like to call it… the method of presenting a dramatic performance

In High School I was in the drama club and in choir. In grade school my mom always made the sets and furnishings for the school dances and plays. Staging has been in my bones since day one. A play is an organized exhibit of one’s imagination. Someone who can put together the vision in their head to make a space have a personality like no other. Each stage is different.

When it comes to homes, each one is different. From the floor plans, original paint, trim, hinges, fireplaces, windows… this is a canvas for someone to envision their home. Now, not everyone has a photo graphic memory. If I look at a space or room, I can literally take a mental picture, go to the drawing board and draw it out, corner by corner. When I enter a space I can see right away, where I am going to put what. I will walk in a store sometimes and think, hmmm, this piece would look better over here for the flow. I will go into someone’s home to visit and redecorate in my head the entire time I am there. It’s an obsession.

I LOVE getting to stage homes for realtors. When I get the call or email “Hey Quinn, are you free two Mondays from now?” Um, YES! I’ll see you then! I have several real estate friends that are always calling me for my opinion or what type of furniture they should put where. Houses in Nashville are popping up everywhere. If I can be the one to make the potential buyer, envision living in their new home, now… that’s a good feeling.

Right now, I am working on a project in Chicago. One of my best girlfriends and her family are moving into a new 1,500sqft apartment and she has asked me to come up for a few days and help. We are so excited to spend time together and put their new home together. We are creating a baby room/playroom/living area, a workout area, and touching up around the other parts of the house! I’m sure we’ll get in over our heads, having fun and I’ll stay longer than expected! Which is ok with us. We have been friends since 2014 and she has always encouraged me and pushed me to be the best that I can be. Tonight, we were facetiming, and she said she has always admired my determination and ambition for trying so many things, failing, succeeding and that I keep trying to build a business over and over, until I find my passion. Everyone needs a friend like her. She inspires me too. She is one of the smartest, nicest, most caring, best mom to her little that I have ever had the privilege to know. I can’t wait to help her decorate and organize their new home. Knowing that she asked me to help, it’s a feeling that is so heartfelt that I couldn’t even begin to describe it.

It's raining here in Nashville tonight. I can hear the wind blowing wickedly. I am nose deep in figuring out what we are going to do. Being the first project planned for the year, I am getting to bed at 3am the past few nights because I am so excited to start.

Here’s to decorating a new place, outside of Tennessee, for the first time.

I guess we’re going National. haha
