Where is the first place you sit down in any house?

Usually the couch right?... Let's be real.

Ok, Imagine. You have your back slid all the way to the

back of the couch. Your feet are crisscrossed (forming a pattern of intersecting lines or paths on (a place)). Maybe your arm is placed lightly on the arm rest or you've got all of your weight on it to the point there will be a crease from your elbow once you get up. Either way, your rear is on that comfy couch and you are looking into the room. Your Peripheral vision is vision as it occurs outside the point of fixation, away from the center of gaze. You see your two main walls, one on your left and one on your right. These walls may be 5 feet on each side of you or they could be alllllllll the way over on the other side of the world, but they are there. A frame for your eyes to follow.

What is the first thing that catches your eye? Is there a plant in the far right corner near the bathroom... a dog bed next to the tv... a pot on a rack in the kitchen over the stove? At one point or another you are fixated on that item. Something drew your attention to it. Maybe it was reflective and it caught the light from the recessed lights or you realized the color of the dog bed matched the new curtains you just bought and you are now just realizing. Those are important details, no matter how little they are.

Let's start with the plant. That plant is a type of plant that does need regular watering. It's in a cute pot with wooden lets that you just realized matched the wood on the dining room table! So, you get up off the couch and move that plant over into the dining room. You take a step back, giggle and walk away feeling pleased. The curtains you bought earlier that week, that you got a great deal on and that you weren't planning on buying, completely go with that rug in the living room. Ok, this is getting cool. You pull out the ladder from the closet and you find the curtain rods you forgot you bought right before spring that you never got a chance to hang! Guess what? The wood is the same wood as your dining room table! You're getting it. You've got the plant moved, the curtains up. Now, that goofy dog bed. Where to put it. Dog beds are hard. They are just there. Find a corner of a room. I prefer the living room because that's where it's cozy and you probably spend a lot of time with people and pets. Tuck that sucker under the curtains that just happen to color coordinate with them! Are you seeing where I'm going with this??

People have a memory for color and pallets. Isn't neat how none of us are the same when it comes to style. We aren't. Companies sell a multiple color and type of item because everyone is different. I know you're thinking, no duh. But it's true and kinda cool. Moving those three items around in your house may have made a huge impact on you and you don't even realize it until after you do it. So do this. Sit back down on your couch. Look out. Do you see that plant over there?... Hey! did you just smile?? I mean look how awesome those drapes look over top of the couch you're enjoying. Every morning you are going to whip them open and look down at that dog bed where the dog will smiling up at you and you'll think wow... this is awesome, I did this.

- Here's to you, you creative soul.

You just Feng shuied
